Heavy Rain, Detroit Team Reportedly Making a Star Wars Game

Detroit: Become Human PS4

Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream is currently making a Star Wars game if new reports are to be believed. First made public by French YouTuber Gautoz and then backed up by known insider Tom Henderson at DualShockers, it’s claimed the project from a galaxy far, far away has been in development for 18 months. The news comes after the studio completed its deal with Sony, which lead to the production of three titles. Those were the two previously mentioned games as well as PlayStation 3 title Beyond: Two Souls.

Very little appears to be known about Quantic Dream’s Star Wars project beyond how long it’s been in development, but Henderson warns we may not hear about the project officially for quite some time. “It’s still currently unclear on what exactly the 18-month time span entails, with rumours within the French developer community suggesting that the title could have just started full development in the past several months,” he says. Funnily enough, the developer actually liked a tweet about this very rumour before removing it.

It remains to be seen whether the project will see the light of day any time soon, but given Tom Henderson’s fairly solid track record of late, we can put at least some confidence in the game being a real thing. Since EA’s exclusively deal with the Star Wars IP ended, we’ve seen a few game projects at least confirm their existence with the help of Lucasfilm Games. We know Ubisoft is making a Star Wars title, and Aspyr Media confirmed back at the PlayStation Showcase its developing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. EA itself will also surely have a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel in the works.

If true, what do you expect from Quantic Dream’s take on Star Wars? Will it subscribe to what the developer is known for with important decisions, or be something completely different? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
