The technical director of Square Enix’s game has praised the PlayStation console’s SSD drive.
Although it’s taking a while to arrive, Forspoken remains one of the most anticipated titles for gamers for 2022. The work of Luminous Productions together with Square Enix is released on PC and PS5, and precisely on Sony’s console it benefits from several improvements and features offered by the hardware.
However, its technical director Teppei Ono did not want to insist on resolution, ray tracing or haptic feedback of DualSense, but instead focused on the sub-second load times which will be enjoyed by users of PlayStation’s next-generation console, varying between 2 and 20 seconds on PC.
On PS5 it will be under one second, less than on PC.“PS5 boasts incredibly fast load times thanks to dedicated hardware,” he says in an interview. “Equipped with an M.2 SSD, gamers will be able to enjoy without having to worry about load times on both PS5 and PC.” In the case of Sony’s machine it is especially striking as it is an open world.since very few currently come close to sub-second figures when it comes to loading the mapping.
After its delay of the first half of the year, Forspoken is scheduled for release on PC and PlayStation 5 for the next October 11. Although its exclusivity on consoles is temporary, on PC it will have the best graphics version, benefiting from Microsoft and AMD technology in areas such as ambient occlusion, reflections and noise suppression.
