Final Fantasy XVI to explore adult themes and be more mature, not just more violent

Naoki Yoshida, producer of Square Enix’s game, assures that the title will explore complex themes.

With Final Fantasy XVI, fans of the legendary saga of. Square Enix will live an adventure much further away from what we have seen in recent installments. In a special preview published in 3DJuegos, its producer Naoki Yoshida explains a lot about his story, but he has also made headlines in other media.

To us he already confirmed that the story will be. more mature and darker in general, but GameSpot has expanded more about it, assuring that the proposal will not only be more violent, but it is necessarily adult because of the themes it deals with and the new approach they have given to the saga.

“We have obtained the Mature rating in almost all the regions in which we are going to release the game, but that’s not just because we want to make the game more violent or explicit, but because we think that is necessary to explore adult themes that are in the game,” Yoshida explains.

You want to teach something and you end up pushing the camera away because of the classification issue. That ends up transforming the experience.”

Next fall we will have news of the game, as confirmed by Square Enix in recent days. Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled for release on summer 2023with PS5 and PC as confirmed platforms. Until then, we can enjoy its spectacular gameplay trailer broadcasted during the last State of Play.
